About Amalia

Amalia is a Philadelphia based dance performer & instructor She is passionate about helping her students find confidence, power, fluidity, passion, and ease in their bodies through this beautiful dance form. She performs and teaches classes, workshops and private belly dancing classes in the Philadelphia area. From infusing a party with vibrant energy, leading a class in building fluency of movement and presence, guiding groups with mobility challenges to find gentle movement while seated, if even just through their breath or finger tips, or one on one coaching for dancers looking to build their confidence, skills, stage presence. Classes are rooted in the rich cultures that this dance comes from - in the Middle East, Turkey, North Africa, and Greece, and a strong emphasis on community and connection.

She began studying belly dance at a young age in her hometown of San Francisco with Greek sisters Anastasia & Phaedra. She has been teaching and performing throughout the Philadelphia area since 2004. Including nearly a decade teaching the belly dance club at Swarthmore College.

As a belly dance performer she has appeared at numerous venues and dance events along the East Coast and in her home state of California. Some highlights include performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Queens Theater, World Café Live, opening for the Belly Dance Superstars Philadelphia show, and being chosen as one of 25 dancers from around the world to participate in the Project Belly Dance competition. Her energetic and dynamic performances have captivated audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Her love of and commitment to the dance and desire to share her enthusiasm has made her a highly respected and sought after performer and instructor.
