About Group Classes



 

Below, I have written a little about what you can expect from my classes, but these are the most important things you need to know:

  1. We have a lot of fun
  2. You can expect to meet some really great women
  3. Every woman can belly dance!

My beginner classes always start with walking. From a basic walk: putting one foot in front of the other with your head held high, to more interesting walks embellished with arms, hands, hips and turns. Once you are comfortable walking confidently to the music, dancing to the music will be much easier. From the very first class I will introduce belly dance movements using the hips, arms and hands, but, by the end of the session, we will have incorporated movement throughout your entire body -- from your eyes to your fingertips.

These classes are designed for beginners, but they are always changing and evolving, so you will not find the same class from semester to semester. I also work with more advanced students within these classes to polish their movements and incorporate more challenging steps and combinations to keep things interesting!

If you are like most of the women who have taken my class, you will come into the first class a bit nervous and thinking that you will never be able to belly dance. It is so exciting for me with every session of classes to see each student begin to really let go and dance. One of my proudest moments was when one of my students recently told me that as she danced she felt rhythm in her body for the first time.
